It's time for an
Oregon Dome

  • Safe, Flexible Spaces for Active Lifestyles
  • Comfortable, Custom and Traditional Designs
  • Healthy, Complete, Affordable Building System

It's time for an Oregon Dome. Our geodesic homes are unique, yet can please even those with the most traditional tastes. We integrate your site, budget, and desire for functional spaces, including ample storage. Energy and resource efficient, our panelized building system does "more for less" sustainably.

Earthquake and tornado damage breaks my heart, yet the insurance agencies require replacement on the same footprint.  Banks may take years to work through their distressed inventory and are not making new home construction loans on domes or square/rectangle homes.

In some jurisdictions, people are deciding not to finance their new homes or additions with construction loans.  They choose to build safe, affordable homes using retirement funds, home improvement loans and savings.  Local builders and owners take one, two or three trucks of materials to build their dome!

First 40' truck has foundation materials, if floor joist (more expensive than a slab), dome panels and roofing underlayment, and, depending on the size of dome (1200 or 1500 square feet) perhaps, 40 yr. laminate shingles.  A 22x22 square foot gambrell garage can often be included.

Second truck, often 20' has vinyl windows and front and back door if not purchased locally.  Interior framing materials for main floorwalls, the loft floor joist and loft floor walls.  Plumbing, electric and venting is best done locally.  Interior doors are a good buy and assist the framer.  Cabinets, siding and trim can be shipped.  Sheetrock templates are provided and explained and often paint, light fixtures and fans, floor coverings and towel racks are purchased, locally.

Third truck, if needed for larger dome and more complete package.  With the foundation, dome, roofing and framing numbers known, shopping locally will give you the rough $ amount for your home.  Well/water, septic/sewer, driveway and labor will complete the project.

Order Design and Building Ideas, the 40 page color catalog no charge, with information about your site. DVD available for $10.

Want assistance determining cost to build and ordering a plan?  We facilitate the description of desired rooms and costs, sketch is still no charge. When you are ready, sometimes months later, we listen to your changes, get you a design agreement with engineering costs, if any, and a purchase order for the dome panels.

Systems-built homes, Assembly Required, visit www.diynetwork.com for listings.

Ask about plans promotions on accessories and/or order of your panels.

Entertaining new design clients for slow and steady year. (Sometimes out of office and you get message machine, I return calls when I return and answer e-mail daily) Please let me know when you have questions or concerns. I enjoy speaking with you and do respond.

We answer questions about re-roofs! Often a cupola added in the process. Hurricane Rita and Ike hit a Beaumont Tx dome that survived, new roofing material and all.

Request Distaster Fitness brochure with our tales of rebuilding.  Domes use fewer lumber resources and are more energy efficient, winter and summer. Heard last winter from owner in WA off Columbia Gorge with ice for last two weeks.  Dome sustained with no damage, a 100 ft. pine, 12" diameter (ton or more) impact on roof, near dormer.

Located now in Veneta! New Company Brochure shows our facility, complete with a 53' covered van (truck) being loaded for a site in South Carolina!

We are enjoying an increase in people calling to learn more about building domes. Many have yet to begin the search for land, first on the "to do" list.  A 50x100 lot is enough land; look for the area, or State and price (high now, going higher) that works for you.   We do a better job of designing the dome (no charge for a sketch) with rooms you want, oriented to view, sun and access to the road.

The best value is using a lower level (yes or no), for garage (yes or no) and whether or not you fancy a Panorama View Room feature, before choosing the the dome diameter. It is a good idea to have plans drawn well ahead of construction, meaning, find land that might work and call us. OK to do a sketch on a potential site, then reselect and do it on another site.

Our catalog package or a call to our project advisor gives enough information to get to "how much does it cost to build". We base the per square foot cost on your area. When we know more, like foundation and HVAC system, finish--"builder basic" meaning carpet/vinyl on floor and laminate on countertops or "upgraded" minus anything you have skill, time, tools and willingness to do we can get closer.  However, a planning number, like $100 a square foot (calculation ease), can be used now and includes the cost of the kit (often 30-50K).  Kit only as a factor to multiply does not work as it is like knowing the cost of the truss package on a rectangle home... incomplete.

Get land selected, (not necessarily purchased) call and describe the potential site, (north, south, east, west) for view, "front" of property and access to the road.  What you want in terms of rooms in a, 1-2-3-4,000 sq. ft. home. Building a home, even as only the owner developer is a detailed process.  We assist you to be successful; the outcome is gorgeous space.

For builders or owners wanting to develop investment projects, we assist with identifying popular plans that suit your market (#B/B), discuss scope of work and answer construction sequencing questions.  Kit costs include skylights, framing for, yet not the windows and doors.  We can include panels for the lower level when above grade.  Ask for a computer sketch, to scale for a lot(s) in your subdivision.

It is generally more convenient and cost effective to purchase floor joists and framing material for the interior to kitchen cabinets and floor coverings locally. We are pleased to let you know what is included in our panelized package.

Before we take money to draw plans, we assist in determining a workable budget for the whole project based on a sketch and choices you make, whether a builder does everything or you contribute. Plans that suit you and your site (custom) are as reasonable as other's stock plans as often they are created from elements that already exist.  When the plan fits you, your land and budget, you are more successful in attracting a lender, builder and completing a successful project. State specific engineering and heat loss calculations are provided when required.

Request new plans to review. Many are evolved from loved plans with choices as to openness and location of rooms, front and back door and garage entrances.

Community Space with small detached residences.

Many new plans include a separate living space for another generation, guest rooms or group living.

We have a design to replace five, aging, mobile classrooms based on info from California Green Summit in Pasadena, CA
